Range of Motion: Spine Straight Leg Raise

range of motion Jun 30, 2023

Testing Straight Leg Raise (SLR) range of motion with an inclinometer involves the following steps:

  1. Have the client adopt a supine position lying down on a massage table or mat, with both legs out straight.
  2. Place the Measurz inclinometer on the midway point of the tibia.
  3. Then, instruct the client to raise their leg up while keeping it as straight as possible.
  4. Once maximal range of motion is achieved, hit the pause/play, and then the save button to view and record the results. NB: Normative data suggests that we should see a result of at least 80 - 90 degrees of range on the straight leg raise test.

The normal range for Straight Leg Raise (SLR) range of motion can vary depending on a person's age, gender, and overall health. However, generally, the normal range for SLR is considered to be between 80-90 degrees.
