Range of Motion: Spine Straight Leg Raise
Jun 30, 2023Testing Straight Leg Raise (SLR) range of motion with an inclinometer involves the following steps:
- Have the client adopt a supine position lying down on a massage table or mat, with both legs out straight.
- Place the Measurz inclinometer on the midway point of the tibia.
- Then, instruct the client to raise their leg up while keeping it as straight as possible.
- Once maximal range of motion is achieved, hit the pause/play, and then the save button to view and record the results. NB: Normative data suggests that we should see a result of at least 80 - 90 degrees of range on the straight leg raise test.
The normal range for Straight Leg Raise (SLR) range of motion can vary depending on a person's age, gender, and overall health. However, generally, the normal range for SLR is considered to be between 80-90 degrees.
