Strength Isometric Test: Wrist Grip Strength
Jul 10, 2023To test grip strength isometric strength with a Muscle Meter, you can follow these steps:
- Have the client seated in an upright position, with the elbow tucked into their torso and flexed to 90 degrees. The elbow should also be in a neutral position of pronation and supination.
- Once set, hand the client the MAT Gripper with the Muscle Meter wedged inside.
- Queue the client to squeeze the Gripper as best as they can, holding for 2-3 seconds to achieve peak force production.
- Upon completion, hit save in the Measurz app and compare to the other side.
Normative data for grip strength isometric strength measured with a handheld dynamometer can vary depending on factors such as age, sex, and population studied. However, here are some general normative data for healthy adults:
- Men: Average of 54-64 kg (119-141 lbs)
- Women: Average of 34-44 kg (75-97 lbs)
