Power Testing: Single Leg Rebound Test

power Jun 27, 2023

The Single Leg Rebound Test is a functional performance test commonly used in sports medicine and rehabilitation settings to assess an individual's lower extremity power and agility.

To perform the Single Leg Rebound Test, follow these steps:

  1. Place a hurdle or marker on a flat surface to indicate the starting position. Place either the MAT, Hop MAT or alternative measuring tool flat on the ground in front of the marker or hurdle.
  2. The client should stand on one leg, with the other leg bent at the knee and lifted off the ground, and their hands on hips.
  3. The client will then hop over the marker or cone, followed by a longer hop where they will stick their landing. They should aim to land softly and maintain their balance throughout the movement.
  4. Ensure the client holds their landing for a brief period of time, allowing for the practitioner to measure the distance. Repeat the test for a predetermined number of times, and then the same procedure will be completed on the other leg.
  5. Record the longest distance hopped as the client’s score.
